Do You Want Cavities? You Have a Choice!

Is tooth decay inevitable?  Almost everyone thinks so.  Our parents had cavities.  We have cavities.  Our kids will probably have cavities.  But what if we could change all that?  What if we could predict dental decay and make changes to prevent it from happening.  Wouldn’t that be a valuable tool?  It would benefit you physically (giving you better health), monetarily (fewer cavities means lower dental bills) and emotionally (if you are one of the many people who fear dental work).

So much of our current health care is aimed toward prevention.  We get mammograms, pap smears, colonoscopies and prostate exams.  We monitor our blood pressure, our cholesterol levels and our blood sugar.  Even dentistry has a long history of six month check-ups to monitor oral health.  Well, we now have the knowledge to identify the risk factors in the disease process that causes cavities.  Once the risk factors for an individual are found, we can alter them in favor of a healthier mouth.  We can prevent cavities!

Our Cavity Prevention Program is designed to help each individual determine the risk factors they have for decay.  We can than examine those risk factors and discuss ways to cut down or eliminate those risks.  Dental decay is caused by bacteria that thrive in acidic conditions.  Our program will help you find ways to reduce the bacterial levels and neutralize the acids that are present in our mouths.  By making a few minor changes in habits, behavior and diet, we can reduce your risks and give you fewer cavities, healthier teeth and a healthier body.

Our team works hard to keep you as healthy as possible.   We know that a healthy mouth is necessary for a healthy body.  It’s time to step up the fight.  We have the knowledge to prevent decay!  Let us work with you to prevent cavities in your mouth.  Ask us for more information on our Cavity Prevention Program and how it can help you.  Call 269-792-2220 with any questions you might have.  You can also stop by for an information sheet.  Or, you can check our web site under preventive dental services.  (www.brucesextondds.com).   Read more about this program in my August 2011 blog.  And stay tuned as I’ll have more information in my next monthly blog.
